Cardiff's Millennium Stadium is one of the most design-led and passionate stadiums in Europe. Boasting Europe's second ever retractable roof and a staggering 74,500 capacity, it has already built a reputation that fully justifies its UEFA 5-star rating. SEAT are proud to be partners with this innovative stadium.
Since its opening in June 1999 the Millennium Stadium has welcomed over 13 million visitors. It has hosted two Rugby World Cups (including the final in 1999), six FA Cup Finals and two Grand Slam winning Welsh rugby campaigns. It will also play a major role in the 2012 Olympic Games.
One of the stadium's main roles is as home to The Welsh Rugby Union, which SEAT also sponsor. It replaced the ageing Cardiff Arms Park and whilst the closing roof and all-seater capacity signal a different era, the stadium has lost none of its passion or patriotic pride.
International rugby is always a fearsome affair on the pitch and at the Millennium Stadium this intensity is matched off it. Few arenas have a more emotive display of culture and that is why SEAT are so proud to be part of the Millennium experience.
The Welsh team have recently enjoyed emphatic success on the international stage, winning two Grand Slams (Europe's most coveted prize) in the last five years. More importantly they play with a flair that matches SEAT culture. Speed, skill and style are all highly valued attributes in Welsh rugby and they have built a reputation across the rugby world as master exponents of this type of play.
